Our coin on the month is this superb five pounds which celebrates Ian Fleming's popular character, the British MI6 agent 007, James Bond.
The obverse - "heads" side of this coin depicts the head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, crowned with the George IV State Diadem. Around the circumference is the inscription "ELIZABETH II D G REG F D (Elizabeth II by the Grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Realm" with the denomination 50 PENCE and date 2021. Below of the truncation of the queen's neck are the initials J.C. for Jody Clark, the Royal Mint engraver responsible for this design.
The reverse - "tails" side features a depiction of Wet Nellie, the Lotus Esprit submarine which featured in the popular James Bond movie, The Spy Who Loved Me with a section of '007' in the background. The letting reads "PAY ATTENTION 007", a phrase often directed at James Bond by the character Q. TM for trademark is below with the initials CD-MD to the right for Christian Davies and Matthew Dent, the designers responsible for this design.
This coin is an official licensed product, produced by the Royal Mint in partnership with EON Productions Limited and Danjaq. It is struck in cupro-nickel and housed in fold-out packaging featuring images from behind the scenes of the Bond movies
